The third quarter of 2023 saw interesting trends among the top five air travel apps on the Android platform in Africa. Data from Sensor Tower reveals weekly downloads and active user metrics that highlight the performance of Wakanow: Flights, Hotels, Cars, Flightradar24 Flight Tracker, Air Algérie, FlySafair, and Pegasus: Cheap Flight Tickets.

Wakanow: Flights, Hotels, Cars had a strong showing in Q3 2023. Weekly downloads fluctuated but generally trended upwards, peaking at around 18.5K in early September. Active users saw a consistent increase from 47.8K at the end of June to approximately 77.3K by the end of September.

Flightradar24 Flight Tracker experienced varied performance. Weekly downloads reached their highest point at around 10.7K in mid-July, followed by a gradual decline, ending the quarter at 7.6K. Revenue fluctuated between $477 and $761 weekly, peaking in the final week of September. Active users remained relatively stable, averaging around 37K throughout the quarter.

Air Algérie saw a decline in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads started at 6K at the end of June but dropped significantly to about 2K by the end of September. Active users followed a similar trend, decreasing from 24.8K to approximately 21K over the same period.

FlySafair had a more dynamic quarter, with weekly downloads spiking to 8.3K in mid-September. Active users also saw a significant increase, especially in the second half of the quarter, rising from 26.8K at the end of June to around 33.3K by mid-September.

Lastly, Pegasus: Cheap Flight Tickets showed mixed performance. Downloads peaked at approximately 6.7K in early September before falling to 3.5K by the end of the month. Active users increased significantly in September, reaching a high of 18.2K before settling at around 16.1K by the quarter's end.
